About

Singapore

We build structures, furniture and workshop machines, primarily from aluminum extrusion and a fusion of materials — then show you exactly how.

The Aluminum Carpenter is a design and fabrication studio. Every structure we make is first painstakingly designed in 3D, then carefully and precisely built by hand, and filmed from the first cut to the last bolt. We present each build to you as a video, release the project as plans, and manufacture the precision jigs — so you can build it yourself, and make your own dream come true. And if you would rather not source the parts, ask us — we can ship the entire build kit to you too.

Designs

Workbenches, cabinets, desks, beds, 3D printer racks, lab tables, exhibition boxes. Each one a complete 3D model with cut list, drilling diagrams and hardware links — not a sketch, the actual file we built from.

Precision jigs

Over 100 drilling and alignment jigs, designed and manufactured in our studio, for 15, 20, 30, 40 and 50 series extrusion. They put holes exactly where they must go — so the joint is strong, flush and hidden — with a hand drill, and anyone can do that.

Build videos

More than 5 million views on YouTube, and the same builds on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Threads, Pinterest and LinkedIn — a new short every day on every platform, and the full-length build when a project is done. Not a highlight reel — the full build.

Why jigs exist

Aluminum extrusion is the best structural material a small workshop can buy: light, straight, strong, and it never warps. The catch is how it is properly and perfectly joined. The usual answer is external brackets — quick, but unsightly, and the bracket becomes the weak point.

The better answer is the blind joint: a bolt driven through one extrusion into a threaded hole in the other, completely hidden. It is stronger and cleaner. It also demands holes placed to the millimetre, and drilling to the millimetre with a hand drill is nearly impossible.

So we designed jigs. A jig secures to the extrusion and puts the drill bit exactly where it needs to land. Every jig has a specific purpose. Then alignment jigs hold two extrusions perfectly square while the joint is tightened, with no second pair of hands.

Material Fusion

Extrusion alone makes a frame. Furniture needs more. We combine aluminum extrusion with laminated wood, acrylic, 3D-printed parts, magnets, LED lighting and concealed wiring — each material doing the job it is best at, and the joints between them designed rather than improvised. We call this Material Fusion. It is why our display cabinet has doors on 3D-printed magnetic hinges, why our Studio Rack has lighting running inside the extrusion, and why our bed is built to outlast the house it sits in.

Some of what we have built

How the plans work

Every design download is the real project file, not a simplified version. You get the full 3D model (STEP and Shapr3D), a cut list, drilling diagrams showing which jig goes where, and links to the exact hardware we used. Follow it and you build what you saw in the video. Change it and you build something of your own — the model is yours to edit.

Jigs are physical products, manufactured in our studio and shipped from Singapore with bolts and nuts included, ready to use out of the box.

Want the whole build in one box? On request, we can put together a complete kit for any design — extrusion, hardware, jigs and parts — and ship it to you.
