Frequently Asked Questions
Will my extrusion arrive with marks or blemishes?
Sometimes, yes. Aluminum extrusion is an industrial material and it comes to us straight off the factory line. Light scuffs, small scratches, faint lines from the extrusion die, or a slight difference in anodised shade from one batch to the next are normal for this material and are not defects. They do not affect strength, fit or the slots.
We are not in control of the factory finish and we do not refinish pieces. We check every piece, cut it to your length and pack it well. By ordering, you accept that cosmetic marks like these can appear and are not grounds for a return or refund.
How precise is the cut?
Every piece is precisely cut to the millimetre you enter, with a clean, square cut. Precision cutting is what we do; the same care goes into every length, whether it is one piece or a hundred.
Do you work in inches?
No. We work in the metric system only. Every length is entered and cut in millimetres, and every profile, slot and thread is metric. We do not cut to inches and we do not supply imperial sizes.
If your plans are in inches, convert them before you order. One inch is 25.4mm.
How long until it ships?
Cut extrusion is made to order and ships within 45 to 60 days. If your order can leave earlier, we email you. Once it ships, you get a tracking number.
What does tapping both ends give me?
A threaded hole in every centre core at each end of the piece, ready for a bolt. A square profile like 2020 has one core, so both ends is two holes. A double profile like 2040 has two cores, so both ends is four holes. The thread size and depth depend on the profile, and your cut list shows the thread and the number of holes for every line you add. It costs $1.50 per tap hole.
Can you drill access holes for blind joints?
We supply the extrusion cut and tapped. For access holes, we recommend you drill them yourself with our Precision Drilling Jigs. They put the hole exactly where you need it, at the diameter you choose, on any piece of your extrusions, as many times as you like, with a hand drill.
Does the price include shipping?
No. The cut list shows the cost of the extrusion and tapping, plus long parcel handling if your list has a piece over 1,000mm. Shipping is worked out at checkout, after you enter your delivery address, and is added to the order total there. Import duties, taxes and tariffs are separate again and are paid in your country.
How is my order shipped?
By air, with an express courier, to your door. We do not ship by sea. Orders within Singapore are delivered by van.
Can I order more than 150kg?
Our online shipping prices cover orders up to 150kg packed. Your cut list shows the packed weight as you build it. For a larger order, email us your cut list and we will quote freight.
What is long parcel handling?
Orders with a piece over 1,000mm pay a long parcel handling charge, because long parcels cost more to send by courier. It is charged once per long parcel, and a parcel holds up to 55kg. Your cut list shows the exact charge before you add to cart. It is not charged for delivery within Singapore.
Is there a minimum order?
Yes. A cart that contains cut extrusion must total at least $50.00. Jigs, tools and anything else in the same cart count toward it.
What are the shortest and longest lengths I can order?
Shortest is 50mm. Longest is 2,500mm. The upper limit is set by our logistics partners, who cannot ship longer pieces. If your design needs a longer length, ask us before you order.
Can I return or exchange cut extrusion?
No. Cut pieces cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded, for any reason, once the order is placed.
So before you press "Add list to cart", check every line: profile, colour, length, quantity and tapping. Use Edit to fix anything. Once paid, the list is final.
The one exception: if we cut the wrong length or send the wrong profile or colour, that is our mistake and we put it right. Email us with your order number and a photo within 7 days of delivery.
Who pays import duties, taxes and tariffs?
You do, always. We ship from Singapore and we sell on a delivered-duty-unpaid basis. What you pay us is the price of the extrusion and the shipping to your door. It does not include anything your own country charges to let the parcel in.
- What can be charged: import duty, sales tax, VAT or GST, tariffs, and the courier's customs handling fee. The names and rates differ by country and can change without notice. We cannot predict them and we cannot pay them for you.
- How it is collected: usually the courier contacts you when the parcel arrives and asks for payment before delivery, or sends a bill afterwards. Sometimes your customs office contacts you directly.
- If you refuse to pay: the courier will not deliver. The parcel is destroyed or returned at high cost, and no refund is due, because the pieces were cut for you and the shipping was already paid.
If you are not sure what your country charges, check with your customs authority or courier before you order. Once your order is placed you have accepted that these charges are yours.
