This is the Studio Rack — a 3.3 metre aluminum extrusion workbench built to become the permanent home of an entire 3D print farm. It carries more than 900 individual components, weighs at least 80kg before a single machine is placed on it, and was designed from the first line to hold serious weight without ever flinching.

Beneath the surface runs a fully concealed electrical network. Wiring is threaded through grommet-lined holes drilled inside the extrusion itself, feeding two continuous lines of LED lighting behind translucent slot covers. Mains power terminates at a 12 volt power supply mounted on custom brackets at the rear of the structure, with the entire aluminum frame grounded. Bright 3D printed covers cap both ends of the PSU so live electricity can never be touched by accident.

The laminated wood panels sit on top of the frame for maximum surface strength, each one notched to clear every vertical leg, then fastened from the underside so the tabletop stays completely clean. A modular network of 3D printed exhaust bridges carries air from the chambers of the printers below, up and out through the window — an ecosystem that can be reconfigured whenever the machines change.

The finished structure leans against the wall and bolts directly into it, so no amount of loaded weight will ever tip it forward.
