These Wood Dowels were extensively used in our videos to create multiple masterful aluminum extrusion paneling via our Doweling Method.
With this Doweling Method, we are able to apply wood panels to aluminum extrusion frames with ease, resulting in completely invisible joinery that elevates the aesthetic value of any aluminum extrusion build.
You will need a centering tool to drill holes that are either 6mm or 8mm in diameter, with the depth of the holes carefully controlled by using a stop collar on your drill bit. Different extrusions require different depths, therefore some upfront trial and error will be required before you settle on the correct depth.
To create the most stable panels that can bear reasonable weight, you should install dowels approximately 100mm apart along all the edges of your panels.
For 20 Series Aluminum Extrusion projects, use 6x30mm Dowels.
For 30 Series Aluminum Extrusion projects, use 8x30mm Dowels.
For 40 Series Aluminum Extrusion projects, use 8x30mm Dowels.
